New decline for Italian industrial production. In October, the seasonally adjusted index calculated by Istat showed a decrease of 0,1% compared to September and of 3% on an annual basis. On average for the first ten months of the year, production fell by 0,8% compared to the same period of the previous year. On the other hand, the average for the August-October quarter saw a drop of 0,9% compared to the previous quarter.
As regards October, the production of capital goods (+1,2%) and consumer goods (+0,3%) grew, while that of intermediate goods (-0,8%) and energy (-0,7 .2013%). Compared to October 4,2, decreases were recorded in all the main groupings of industries: intermediate goods (-0,7%), capital goods (-3,8%), consumer goods and energy (both -XNUMX%) .
Among the sectors, on the other hand, the manufacturing of means of transport (+4,3% on the year) and that of computers, electronic and optical products, electro-medical equipment, measuring devices and watches (+4,2%) grew.
The greatest decreases were recorded in the manufacturing of electrical appliances and non-electrical household appliances (-16,5%), the manufacturing of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (-14,9%) and the manufacturing of coke and refined petroleum products (-9,3%).
