The seasonally adjusted index of industrial production showed, in October, a 1,1% decline from September and a 6,2% year-on-year decline. This was noted by Istat, which communicates that the average for the August-September quarter is down by 0,5% compared to the previous quarter.
Industrial production, on average for the first ten months of the year, it dropped by 6,5% compared to the same period last year. On an annual basis, in October there were negative changes in almost all the main groupings: above all intermediate goods (-8,0%) and capital goods (-5,8%) decreased, manufacturing of chemical products increased (+1,1 %) and the food, beverage and tobacco industries (+0,4%), while the sector for the manufacture of rubber and plastic materials and other non-metallic mineral processing products collapsed (-14,7%).
Very bad the production of motor vehicles which drops for the sixth consecutive month, in October, dropping by 26,8%. In the first ten months of the year, the drop was 20,1%.
