Industrial production is growing again. The relative Istat index for November, corrected for calendar effects, recorded a growth of 1,4% on an annual basis. However, the calculation for the first 11 months of 2013 remains negative, given that production shows a tendential decline of 3,1%.
Compared to October, however, the seasonally adjusted index increased by 0,3%, thanks above all to growth in the energy sector. On average for the September-November quarter, the increase recorded by the index was 0,4% compared to the previous quarter.
On an annual basis, in the month of November the index showed a clear increase in the sector of intermediate goods (+5,1%). Energy (-0,7%) and consumer goods (-0,2%) fell. Among the sectors of economic activity, the growth in the production of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations was rapid (+10,8%), while the most significant decline was that in mining (-10,2%).
