Producer prices of industrial products are falling. The relative index elaborated by Istat for the month of August marks a drop of 2,0% on an annual basis, while the comparison with the month of July shows a slight increase of 0,2%.
Similar speech for the prices of products sold on the domestic market, up by 0,2% compared to July, but down by 2,3% compared to August 2012, due to the net decline in the energy sector. On the foreign market, prices recorded a zero change on a cyclical basis and a contraction of 0,8 on a trend basis.
The sector of economic activity for which the most marked decrease in prices is noted is that of the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (-5,7% for the domestic market and -10,4% for the foreign market).
