The per capita GDP of Italians collapses. In 2012 the figure fell by 2,8% in real terms and, at purchasing power parity, was lower than the average for the EU27 (-1,6%), while in 2000 it was 17,3% higher .12,5%. The numbers were released today by Istat in the "Noi Italia XNUMX" report. 

In terms of the economic situation, the statistical institute notes that in 2012 families in conditions of relative poverty were 12,7%, equal to over 9,5 million individuals (15,8% of the population). Absolute poverty involves 6,8% of families, for a total of over 4,8 million individuals. The South presents a particularly disadvantaged situation, with an average of over a quarter of poor families; for the Center and the North, the incidence is, conversely, much lower (respectively 7,1 and 6,2%).

In 2011, 50% of families received less than 24.634 euros (about 2.053 euros per month). Approximately 58% of families residing in Italy achieved a net income lower than the average annual amount (29.956 euros, approximately 2.496 euros per month). Campania has the highest inequality in income distribution, while Sicily has the lowest average annual income (over 28% less than the Italian average).
