Istat: first quarter GDP -2,3% year on year

In the first quarter of the year the Italian GDP, corrected for calendar effects and seasonally adjusted, dropped by 0,5% compared to the previous three months and 2,3% every year. The variation acquired for the current year is -1,5%. This was communicated by Istat, specifying that it is the seventh consecutive quarter in decline: such a long recession had not occurred since the first quarter of 1990.

The cyclical decline, explains the Institute of Statistics, is the synthesis of a decrease in value added in the sectors of industry and services and an increase in the agricultural sector. 

In comparison with the previous quarter, GDP increased by 0,6% in the United States and by 0,3% in the United Kingdom. In trend terms, there was a growth of 1,8% in the United States and 0,6% in the United Kingdom. Bad instead France.
