The economy is growing again Southern Italy. It is revealed by theIstat, according to which the Noon recorded a 1% increase in GDP in 2015, recording the first positive change after seven consecutive years of decline. GDP growth in Southern Italy was higher than the national one, +0,7%, a level which was also achieved by the North-East. The Center is struggling, +0,2%, while the North-West shows an increase of 1%.

During 2015 theoccupation it grew by 0,6%. Also in this case, the increase recorded in the South stands out, +1,5%. Employment grew by 0,5% in the Center and in the North-West, while the North-East recorded a drop of 0,5%.

The driving force behind GDP growth in Southern Italy was above all the push from the agricultural sector (+7,3%), although there were also increases in commerce, public establishments, transport, telecommunications (+2,6%) and in construction (+1,4%). Almost no change for industry in the strict sense, while the financial, real estate and professional services sector is the only one to show a decrease (-0,6%). 

On the employment front, the South recorded positive performances, as well as in agriculture, in the sectors of commerce, public establishments, transport and telecommunications (+2,7%) and construction. Construction which had a negative impact (-4,2%) on the result of the North-East.
