Preliminary Istat data show a 0,3% growth compared to zero compared to the previous quarter. Confirmed government estimates on growth for the end of the year

Istat: GDP +0,3% in the third quarter

Rebound in Italian economic growth in the third quarter of 2016. GDP, adjusted for calendar effects and seasonally adjusted, increased by 0,3% compared to the previous quarter and by 0,9% compared to the third quarter of 2015. This was announced Istat based on preliminary estimates. In the second quarter of the year, growth was zero. The data on GDP acquired for this year improves.

The growth that would be recorded if in the last three months of 2016 the cyclical variation of the gross domestic product were zero is +0,8%. The previous estimate, based only on data from the first two quarters, was +0,6%. Government estimates for 2016 indicate a (crude) growth of 0,8%.

The cyclical growth of GDP in the third quarter is the synthesis of an increase in value added in the sectors of industry and services and a decrease in agriculture. Istat specifies it on the basis of preliminary estimates. On the demand side, there is a largely positive contribution from the national component (gross of inventories), partly offset by a negative contribution from the net foreign component.
