The series of negative data on Italian industry continues: the orders in February they recorded a decrease of 13,2% compared to the same month of 2011 (this is the worst result since 2009), while the turnover recorded a drop in 0,7%. For orders, the only trend increase is observed for the production of products pharmaceuticals basic and pharmaceutical preparations (+ 6,6 %). The largest decline is recorded for the manufacture of computer, products of electronics e octave, appliances electromedical, appliances of measurement e Watches (-29,7%).
This is revealed by the Istat data published today. On basis conjunctural, on the other hand, orders grow slightly compared to January: + 2,0 % on the internal market e + 3,1 % on the foreign market, demonstrating the relative strength of Italian exports, the true driving force of the sector.
In the last three months (December-February), the index has grown by on average 0,6% compared to the previous quarter, while in February the total turnover decreased by1,5% on a trend basis. The separation of the data is significant: tax increases had a negative impact on the 4,7% on domestic consumption, while the growth of exports (+ 5,5 %) counteracts the decrease in national consumption.
- turnover indices indicate a significant cyclical increase (+ 6,1 %) for capital goods, while consumer goods recorded a more modest increase (+ 1,7 %). Intermediate goods and energy, overall increase in turnover of the1,6%.
Lraw turnover index, in trend terms, shows a decrease in the 0,7%, a drop caused largely by the domestic component of intermediate goods, which reacts to the drop in industrial orders.
Il turnover increases more for other industries manufacturing: + 26,4 %, confirming the strength of the fashion and luxury craft sectors, while the most marked decrease concerns the manufacture of computers and optical-electronic products, electromedical and measuring devices, watches, with an overall decrease of 17,2%.
As for the total orders, there is a decline conjunctural of the 2,5%, synthesis of a 4,9% reduction in domestic orders and a 1,1% growth in foreign ones. On average for the last three months, total orders decreased by 1,5% compared to the previous quarter.
