Istat: Italy, country of emigrants

Italy, more and more, returns to being a country of emigrants. This is certified by the data released today by Istat (relating to 2013), according to which never, in the last ten years, had there been so many Italians who moved abroad: 82 thousand, up by 20,7% compared to 2012, while admissions fell to about a thousand units, 3,5% from the previous year.

A number, that of Italians who move, which must be combined with that of fleeing foreigners: there are 44 foreign citizens who leave our country, +14,2% compared to 2012, for a total figure of about 125 emigrants.

Again, a country of emigrants, who choose above all European destinations: the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland and France, in fact, collect more than half of the outgoing flows. 30% of emigrants over 24 years of age are university graduates: also in this case the preferred destination is the United Kingdom.

On the other hand, immigration from abroad is decreasing, reaching 2013 thousand in 307, down by 12,3% on an annual basis. Figures that show a lower attraction of foreigners to our country. The most represented community remains the Romanian one, with 58 visitors, despite a drop of 29%.

Then follow the Moroccan (20), Chinese (17) and Ukrainian (13) communities. In relative terms, the enrollments of Ecuadorian (-37%), Ivorian (-34%), Macedonian (-26%) and Polish (-24%) citizens also dropped significantly.
