Istat communicates it in its estimates, specifying that on a monthly basis the index is actually decreasing (-0,1%). Inflation acquired for 2014 drops to 0,1%, from 0,2% in January.
The slight monthly drop in the general index is mainly due to the decrease in the prices of fresh vegetables (-4,6%) and fresh fruit (-1%) affected by seasonal factors and the prices of unregulated energy goods (-0,9 .0,7%). The cyclical decrease in the prices of services relating to communications also contributes (-XNUMX%).
As for the so-called "shopping cart", the index which expresses the average change in the prices of the most widely consumed products, the annual inflation rate fell to 0,9% in February from +1,3% of January. On a monthly basis, however, also in this case the prices are down (-0,3%).
