Italy remains in deflation, despite slight signs of recovery also due to the policies implemented by the ECB to avoid the risk of deflation. To say it are the provisional data released by theIstat, which recorded a 0,2% month-on-month inflation increase in March, following two consecutive declines.
On an annual basis, however, inflation marks a new decline of 0,2%, which follows the -0,3% recorded last February. Deflation is mainly affected by the new declines in energy products and in particular in unregulated products such as fuel (-11,2%, from -8,5% in February).
The prices of food goods, for home and personal care decreased by 0,1% compared to February and by 0,3% year-on-year, from -0,4% recorded in February.
