In May, the turnover of industry, net of seasonal factors, decreased by 1,0% compared to April: the decline on a quarterly basis was more marked, while on an annual basis it recorded a +0,1% – instead orders fell sharply.

In May, the turnover of industry, net of seasonal factors, decreased by 1,0% compared to April, recording declines both on the foreign and domestic markets (respectively -1,9% and -0,6%). This was communicated by Istat. Corrected for calendar effects (working days were 21 against 22 in May 2013), total turnover grew by 0,1% in trend terms, with an increase of 0,1% on the domestic market and a decrease of 0,1 .XNUMX% on the foreign one.

On average over the last three months, the overall index decreased by 0,7% compared to the previous three months (-0,8% for foreign turnover and -0,7% for domestic turnover). Industry orders, on the other hand, fell more drastically: in May they recorded a cyclical downturn of 2,1%, with a decrease of 4,5% in foreign orders and 0,2% in domestic ones. In comparison with the month of May 2013, the raw index of orders marks a decrease of 2,5%.
