Istat, industry: orders and turnover drop in July

According to data released by the Institute of Statistics, in July the turnover of Italian industry experienced a drop of 1% compared to the previous month and 1,3% on an annual basis – Orders are also bad: down by 1,5% on a monthly basis and by 0,7% on an annual basis.

Slowdown in Italian industry, which in July recorded a clear setback in terms of both turnover and orders. This was communicated by Istat, according to which the industry's turnover in July marked a decrease of 1% compared to the previous month and of 1,3% seasonally adjusted on an annual basis. The figure is the synthesis of a 2,2% drop in turnover on the domestic market, not offset by the 0,5% growth on the foreign market.

The seasonally adjusted indices for turnover show the greatest cyclical downturns for energy (-5,8%) and for intermediate goods (-1,2%). On an annual basis, however, the most significant increase is recorded in the manufacture of computers, electronic and optical products, electro-medical equipment (+7,8%), while the greatest decrease concerns the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (-10,4 .XNUMX%).

Also in the month of July industrial orders showed a drop of 1,5% compared to June of 0,7% on an annual basis. Compared to the previous month, orders fell both on the domestic market, -0,9%, and, above all, on the foreign market, -2,1%. Compared to July 2013, the most significant increase in orders is recorded in the manufacture of means of transport (+12,8%), while the greatest decline is observed in the manufacture of machinery and equipment (-6,2%).
