Istat: business confidence at the top since 2007

In October, all Italian productive sectors, with the exception of construction, recorded an increase in confidence, on pre-crisis levels – Consumer confidence also improved for the fifth consecutive month.

The confidence of Italian companies is back to pre-crisis levels. This was noted by Istat, specifying that, in October, the consumer confidence index also increased for the fifth consecutive month, going from 115,6 to 116,1, while that of companies rose by one percentage point, from 108,1 to 109,1, returning to June 2007 levels.

Among the components of the consumer confidence climate, we note an improvement in judgments and expectations on the personal situation; the balance relating to the current opportunity to purchase durable goods records a new increase, returning to the levels of January 2017 and the number of respondents who believe it is possible to save in the future decreases (time horizon 12 months). With reference to companies, in the month of October there was a increase in the climate of confidence in all sectors with the exception of construction.
