The confidence of consumers. In the month of August, in fact, the relative index calculated by theIstat leaps sharply to 109,0 from 106,7 the previous month. For the index, this is the highest level reached in two years now. Step back, however, for the composite index of the confidence climate of the iItalian companies, which moved to 103,7 from 104,3 in July.
In particular, all the components of the general indicator of consumer confidence improved, especially the economic one (to 132,3 from 128,2). Opinions and expectations “on the current economic situation of the country are also growing (the respective balances to -62 from -68 and to 5 from -4). Unemployment expectations slightly decrease (to 27 from 28)”.
As for businesses, the climate of confidence grows in the retail trade (107,5 from 106,9) and construction (119,5 from 117,6) businesses, while it decreases in manufacturing (102,5 from 103,5, 109,7) and in market services (109,9 from XNUMX).
The findings relating to theEurozone. The European index that measures business confidence elaborated by the EU commission marks a drop of 0,20 points in August, settling at +0,21. On the other hand, consumer confidence improved marginally to -6,9 points.
