Istat: consumer confidence at 105,4, the highest since 2010

The confidence of Italian consumers is still improving. To testify it is the Istat. In April, the figure stood at 105,4 from 101,9 in March, recording the highest value since January 2010. Both the economic and the personal components of the index grew: the former rose from 108,1 to 115,1 from 108,1, the second from 98,8 to 100,6.

The components relating to the current and future climate also increased: respectively to 101,6 from 97,9 and 109,4 from 105,8. On the other hand, as regards the country's economic situation, both assessments on current conditions and future expectations improve (the balances go respectively to -96 from -110 and to 14 from 3). Unemployment expectations are stable (the relative balance is 44).

Other improvements are those on the front of judgments and expectations on the family's economic situation (the balance passes from -52 to -59 for the former and to -6 from -13 for the latter) as well as on the family budget: the balance passes to -15 from -21. On the other hand, opinions on the current opportunity to save worsened (the balance to 116 from 123), while those on future possibilities remained stable (the balance -57).

The balance of judgments on the recent trend in consumer prices decreased to 3 from 20; the balance relating to expectations on the evolution of prices over the next twelve months also decreased, going from -33 to -16. The improvement in the climate of confidence involves the whole peninsula.
