Istat, industry turnover returns to growth after 22 months: +0,4%

Net of seasonal factors, November's turnover increased by 0,9% compared to October, recording the same increase both on the domestic and foreign markets – On average over the last three months, the overall index increased by 0,6% compared to the previous three months (+1,7% for foreign turnover and zero change for the domestic one).

For the first time in 22 months, Italian industry is back on the road to growth. In November, the turnover of the industrial sector, adjusted for calendar effects, rose by 0,4% on a year-on-year basis. This was communicated by Istat, specifying that the figure is the result of a -1,8% on the domestic market and a +4,8% on the foreign market. 

Net of seasonal factors, turnover increased by 0,9% compared to October, recording the same increase both on the domestic and foreign markets. On the average of the last three months, the overall index increases by 0,6% compared to the previous three months (+1,7% for foreign turnover and zero change for the domestic one).

According to Istat data, the raw turnover index, again in November 2013, fell by 2,7% in trend terms: the largest contribution to this decline comes from the domestic energy component.

In terms of turnover, the most significant trend increase was recorded in the production of pharmaceutical products (+8,3%), while the greatest decrease regards the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (-16,2%).

Orders are also growing, rising by 3% year-on-year in November. The most significant increase is recorded in the manufacture of means of transport (+15,5%), while the greatest decline is observed in the manufacture of chemical products (-8,4%). For total orders, total growth is 2,3%, a synthesis of a 4,1% increase in domestic orders and a 0,4% decrease in foreign ones.
