Istat: Italian exports fly to the USA and collapse in Russia

In February, extra-EU exports recorded an increase of 7,1% on an annual basis and of 4,5% compared to January – The trade surplus rises to 2,8 billion euros.

February of growth forItalian export outside the EU which, according to the data released by theIstat, was up 7,1% year-on-year and 4,5% over January. Driving the growth of our exports are the United States, which has bought goods for 3,2 billion euros, over one billion more than in the same period of 2014.

An increase, that of exports to the USA, which offset the sharp decline in Russia (-28,5%) and the slowdown in Northern Africa (-7%), Central-South America (-2,5%) and China (-7,7%). Among the sectors, the growth of capital goods stands out, especially ships. 

On the other hand, imports showed a growth of 10,4%, net of energy, and a decrease of 4,1% considering energy. The trade surplus in February amounted to 2,8 billion, 1,3 more than in the same month of 2014.
