Istat: exports +2,3%, deficit improves

Driven above all by non-EU markets, exports grew overall in the period January-November 2011 more than imports: 11,9% against 10,6% – The trade deficit therefore improved, and also the deficit, which in the same period reached 25,8 billion, compared to 27 in 2010

Istat: exports +2,3%, deficit improves

Exports grew by 2,3% in November driven by non-EU markets (+3,1%). This is revealed by Istat data, according to which the growth of imports is instead equal to 0,5%. In the September-November quarter, exports grew by 1% compared to the previous quarter, with a greater increase on non-EU markets (+1,4%).

Overall in the period January-November 2011 exports (+11,9%) grew more than imports (+10,6%), with more substantial increases for non-EU markets.

The trade deficit has therefore improved: in November it amounted to 1,6 billion euros. In the first eleven months the deficit reached 25,8 billion, an improvement on 2010 (-27 billion). In the same period, the non-energy balance (+30,5 billion) increased sharply on 2010 (+19,6 billion), while the energy balance rose to 56,3 billion from 46,6 billion in 2010.
