Unemployment continues to rise, reaching new all-time highs. According to data released by Istat, in fact, the unemployment rate grew to 13,4% in November, up 0,2% on last month and 0,9% on an annual basis. According to the statistical institute, this is the highest figure both since the monthly historical series were recorded (2004) and since the beginning of the quarterly series, in 1977. Again in November, the employed numbered 22 million 310 thousand, a decrease of 0,2 .48% both compared to the previous month (-42 thousand) and on an annual basis (-55,5 thousand). The employment rate, equal to 0,1%, decreased by XNUMX percentage points in quarterly terms and remained unchanged compared to twelve months earlier.
The number of unemployed in November stood at 3 million 457 thousand units, 40 thousand more than in October and 264 thousand more than in November 2013, while those employed are 22 million 310 thousand, 48 thousand less than in October and 42 thousand less on November 2013. The employment rate decreased by 0,1% compared to the previous month, remaining unchanged compared to November 2013.
Youth unemployment is also growing, reaching 43,9% in November, up 0,6% on the previous month and 2,4% on an annual basis. Again, this is the highest figure since 1977.
