Unemployment rises in November and youth unemployment explodes, especially for young women in the South. The provisional estimates on seasonally adjusted data from Istat capture a very alarming reality.
The unemployment rate stood at 8,6% in November, up 0,1% on October and 0,4% on a year earlier, at its highest level since May 2010. For young people the situation is even more serious: almost one in three cannot find a job with the unemployment rate standing at 30,1%, up 0,9% from October and 1,8% points on an annual basis, the highest level since 2004, when the monthly time series began.
And for young women aged between 15 and 24 who live in the South, the unemployment rate rises to 39%.
