Youth unemployment continues to worsen in Italy, which recorded yet another negative record in November. Jobless rate among people aged 15-24 jumped to 37,1%, from 36,5% in October. This was communicated by Istat, explaining that this is the highest figure since January 2004 (beginning of the monthly historical series) and the absolute negative record ever recorded since the fourth quarter of 1992 (beginning of the quarterly historical series).

In November, 641 under 25s were looking for work: 10,6% of the entire age group. The youth unemployment rate is up 0,7 percentage points from October and up 5 points year-on-year.

In general, unemployment in Italy remained stable on a monthly basis at 11,1% in November, same value recorded in October. On the other hand, an increase of 1,8 percentage points was recorded in the annual comparison. As in October, this is the highest level recorded since 2004, the year in which the monthly time series began. If you look at quarterly data, it's the highest figure since the first quarter of 1999.

In November there were 22 million 873 thousand employed people, down by 0,2% both compared to October (-42 thousand) and on an annual basis (-37 thousand). The employment rate, equal to 56,8%, decreased by 0,1 percentage points in a quarterly comparison and unchanged compared to twelve months earlier.

The army of unemployed, again in November, remained essentially stable on a monthly basis at 2 million 870 thousand (-2 thousand compared to October). On an annual basis, however, unemployment grew by 21,4%: more than half a million (507 units) are unemployed compared to November 2011.
