Italian import-export is growing, with a positive trade balance in May of 1 billion euros, with surpluses for both EU countries (+691 million) and non-EU countries (+316 million). The deficit also recorded excellent results: in the first five months it was 2,6 billion, sharply down on the previous year (-18,2 billion).
In May, according to data released by Istat, there was a cyclical increase in both exports (+1,4%) and imports (+0,9%) and a trend increase in exports of as much as 4,8 .XNUMX%.
The cyclical growth of exports is due to a sustained increase in sales to non-EU countries (+5,5%), while those on the EU market drop by 2%. The increase in sales of energy products (+27,4%) is particularly significant.
The cyclical increase in imports is manifested in both areas of exchange (+1,2% for non-EU countries, +0,7% for EU countries), with more significant increases for capital goods (+6,9% ) and energy products (+1,3%).
La tendential reduction in the value of imports (-4,5%) is determined by the significant drop in volumes (-8,3%), while the average unit values recorded an increase of 4,1%.
