Istat: extra-EU trade deficit down in November

Italy's trade deficit falls. In November, the reduction compared to the same month of 2010 was two billion and 62 million euros. The figure - communicated by Istat - thus stands at the same level 1.198 million euro. The cyclical growth rate is equal to 3,1% for exports and 0,5% for imports. In the last quarter, the economic trend was positive for exports (+1,4%) and negative for imports (-0,8%).

However, in the preliminary estimate of extra-EU foreign trade, the Institute of Statistics notes that the energy deficit (-5,5 billion) is larger than in 2010 (-4,6 billion). The reduction of the trade deficit, therefore, is determined by the strong expansion of the surplus in the trade of non-energy products, which grows from 2,6 to 4,3 billion.
