Istat, construction production collapses: -10,9% on an annual basis

Dizzying drop for the sector, even if the percentage corrected in December for calendar effects decreases to -8,8% – Compared to November, production increases by 1,3% – Bad instead on a quarterly basis: down by 4,4 %.

The collapse of construction production does not stop. After the findings of December, the new Istati data confirm the crisis in the sector.

On average for the entire year 2013, construction production fell by 10,9% compared to the previous year. In December 2013, the seasonally adjusted index of construction production increased by 2013% compared to November 1,3. On average for the October-December quarter, the index recorded a decrease of 4,4% compared to the previous three months.

The index adjusted for calendar effects in December 2013 decreased in trend terms by 8,8% (there were 20 working days against 19 in December 2012). In December 2013, the raw index showed a tendential decrease of 5,5% compared to the same month of 2012. In comparison between the average of 2013 and that of the previous year, production decreased by 10,9%.
