Positive data for the month of August from the seasonally adjusted index of the value of retail sales. In fact, in August the index recorded an increase of 0,3% compared to the previous month. But the percentage change is much more significant in comparison with the month of August 2014: + 1,3 %. This was announced by Istat in a press release in which it also points out that the value of sales in the quarter from June to August increased by 0,1% compared to the previous quarter. In the first eight months of 2015, the value of sales marks a trend increase of 0,7%.
With reference to the same period, the value of sales of food products and that of non-food products shows positive changes of 1,4% and 0,3%, respectively.
Taking into account the change in the consumer price index, the signs of recovery in the consumption of goods in real terms continue: in August, the volume index of retail sales recorded positive changes of 0,2% compared to July and '1,0% compared to August 2014. In the June-August quarter, the index increased by 0,1% compared to the previous three months.
Sales grew above all for footwear, leather and travel items (+2,3% on the year), perfumery products (+2,3%) and games, toys, sports and camping (+2,2 %).
