Istat: exports grow, +2% in April. Import -2,9% over the year

According to data released by Istat, in April Italian exports grew by 2% on an annual basis – In the same month imports suffered a decrease of 2,9% on an annual basis – The trade balance marks a positive of 3,5, XNUMX billion euros.

Italian exports grow. This is certified by the data released by Istat, according to which in April exports would have experienced an increase of 2% on an annual basis, driven by the strong increase in sales to the EU area (+5%). Compared to March, exports grew by 0,4%, after a series of three consecutive declines. 

On the other hand, imports were down: -0,6% on a monthly basis and -2,9% on an annual basis. Thanks to these data, in April the trade balance showed a considerable improvement, to 3,5 billion against the two billion in the same period of the previous year. A surplus was recorded both with EU countries (+1.851 million) and with non-EU countries (+1.654 million).
