In August, the seasonally adjusted index on the climate of confidence in the manufacturing sector increased from 98,8 to 99,9. In the face of a sales drop and production estimates, optimism for orders is growing. This was communicated by Istat, specifying that the rise in the index is driven by consumer goods. Confidence in intermediate goods, on the other hand, declines.
Good news also for construction companies: in July the index rose to 75,8 (+1,4). Confidence remains stable in the services sector, while there is a drop in the retail sector, from 102,6 in July to 97,8 in August. In trade, the indicator plummeted both in large-scale distribution (from 101,5 to 93,7) and in the traditional one. Pessimism regarding sales estimates, inventories are expected to increase.
