Istat, public accounts: third quarter GDP deficit at 2,7%, the best since 2008

On an annual basis, the increase is 0,8% – In the first nine months of 2011 the figure reached 4,3%, down by 0,3% on an annual basis – The primary balance is also good: +2,148 billion compared to corresponding period of 2010.

In third quarter of 2011 has improved Italy's deficit-GDP ratio. This was communicated by Istat, explaining that the net debt of public administrations (raw data) was equal to 2,7% of GDP, a value 0,8% lower than that recorded in the same period of 2010.

This is the best result since 2008, when between July and September the deficit/GDP ratio stood at 1,3%. In the first nine months of 2011, the figure reached 4,3%, marking a decrease of 0,3% on an annual basis.

According to the Institute of Statistics, Italy also saw its own improve in the third quarter primary balance. Net of interest expense on the public debt, the figure was positive for 6,615 billion euros (+2,148 billion compared to the corresponding period of 2010).

The ratio between primary balance and GDP was 1,7%: also in this case it is the best result since 2008, when between July and September the ratio was 3,8%. In the first nine months of 2011 there was a positive primary balance equal to 0,3% of GDP, an improvement compared to -0,3% in the same period of 2010.
