Istat, trade balance: surplus of 2 billion in September

The positive balance increased compared to the 679 million registered in September 2013 – Both flows grew: export +7,4%, import +1,6%.

The Italian trade balance improved, which in September recorded a positive balance of 2,014 billion euros, against the surplus of 679 million recorded in the same month of the previous year. This was communicated by Istat, according to which, in the trend comparison, both flows experienced growth: export +7,4%, import +1,6%. Exchanges with EU countries alone show a surplus of 480 million in September, compared to a surplus of 372 million in September 2013.

Compared to the month of August, however, exports increased by 1,5%, while imports recorded a growth of 1,6%. The increase in exports is mainly driven by sales to non-EU markets (+4,1%), while exports to the EU area are down (-0,7%). The growth in sales abroad is larger net of energy products (+1,9%) and is driven by capital goods (+5,6%)”.
