Istat, extra-EU exports are doing well: +4,1% in September

The balance rises to 16,2 billion in the first 9 months. Imports are also up +3,4%. The key sectors driving exports are capital goods, non-durable goods and intermediate products. In decline durable goods and energy.

In the latest preliminary estimate by Istat, Made in Italy exports to non-European countries recorded a significant increase in September compared to October, a good 4,1% more, while imports increased by 3,4%. The growth in exports outside the Eurozone was driven by the sales of capital goods with a +11,8%, increase mostly attributable to exceptional operations regarding the sales of sea navigation vessels.

In any case, non-durable goods also increased, with a +2,0%, and intermediate products, with an increase of 1,7%. On the other hand, durable consumer goods fell by 6,4% and energy by 12,3%. This last item, obviously, is the one that shows the greatest increase in terms of imports (+4,4%), together with capital goods, whose imports increase by 13,7%.

Lastly, in the same report, Istat records that the trade balance for September regarding the extra-European market is in surplus by 1,53 billion euro. Furthermore, compared to the first months of the year, the surplus amounts to 16,245 billion.
