Istat: exports to non-EU countries slow down in April

Exports to non-EU countries fell by 2% in April but remained positive for 2,5 billion - 238 million lost to Russia - The overall figure on imports goes against the trend (+1,5%)

In April of this year i trade flows with non-EU countries indicate a drop in exports (-2%) it's a increase in imports (+1,5%) compared to the month of March. it detects theIstat in its monthly report on extra-EU foreign trade.

And it is the sector ofthe energy conditioning both the data relating to imports and exports. The 1,5% increase in imports compared to the previous month is mainly due to the significant jump in imports in the energy sector which grew by 12,4%. We also note the +7,5% of capital goods.

In terms of exports to countries that are not part of the European Union, we note the -5,4% of energy and the decrease of 6,8% of capital goods. In trend terms, exports to non-EU countries, according to Istat, grew by 12,2%, exports recorded a +6,3% compared to April 2014.

Remaining on the export front, Istat reports a heavy loss to Russia. In fact, exports of Italian products to Russia fell in April by 29,5% on an annual basis, going from 806 million euros in April 2014 to 568 million euros last month, or 238 million less.

Istat also reports that the trade balance with non-EU countries it recorded a surplus of 2,586 billion in April and 8,773 billion in the first four months of the year. Exports fell 2% over the month (seasonally adjusted index) and rose 12,2% over the year (raw index), while imports rose 1,5% over the month and 6,3% over the year.
