Still terror in Turkey, this time on the streets of Istanbul. The explosion of a car bomb parked near the bus stop in the central Beyazit square, between the university of Istanbul and the grand bazaar, caused 11 dead and at least 36 wounded. The bomb, as reported to the press by the governor Vasip Sahin, was remotely activated as a vehicle of the Turkish anti-riot police passed on its way to the university.

The explosion took place in the Vezneciler neighborhood in the heart of the Golden Horn of Istanbul. Numerous ambulances and vehicles of the security forces rushed to the scene. Seven of the eleven victims are policemen traveling on board the bus; the other four are civilians who happened to be passing by at the time of the attack.
