Israel, protests for the US embassy: dozens of dead in Gaza

The inauguration of the US embassy in Jerusalem and the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the birth of the State of Israel unleash violence in the Middle East. Clashes between Palestinian protesters and the Israeli army took place in the West Bank and on the border with the Gaza Strip. The provisional toll is already very heavy: at the beginning of the afternoon there were more than 40 dead and 1.200 wounded. This was written by the official Palestinian agency Wafa, citing medical sources. But the death toll unfortunately continues to rise hour after hour.

"Anyone who approaches the barrier between Gaza and Israel is considered a terrorist." This was said by Naftali Bennett, the Israeli education minister, justifying the behavior of the Israeli army, which is shooting at tens of thousands of Palestinians.

An Israeli fighter plane hit a target in the north of the Strip with at least one missile. Local sources report it. Previously, the air force had already hit a Hamas position in the Jabalya refugee camp.

President Donald Trump was not present at the opening ceremony of the US embassy. At the side of the Israeli premier, Benyamin Netanyahu, were the daughter of the number one in the White House, Ivanka Trump, and her husband Jared Kushner. Also in the front row were Ambassador David Friedman, Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan and Treasury Secretary David Mnuchin.

Netanyahu and Trump posted enthusiastic comments on Twitter, with no reference to the clashes and casualties.
