Israel mobilizes troops to the south

The Israeli army mobilizes infantry and artillery in the south of the country after the escalation with Gaza, from where missiles continue to arrive. This morning two of the rockets hit two buildings in Sderot, a targeted town close to the Strip. One of the two rockets, although hitting the house, did not explode.

For its part, the Israeli air force struck 15 Hamas targets in the Strip during the night. The military spokesman said, underlining that the operation took place in response to more than 20 rockets fired from Gaza into Israeli territory starting yesterday. Among the targets hit by Israel, the same source reports, include bases for launching rockets, weapons warehouses and "terrorist sites". Sources in Gaza report 10 injured during the attack, one of them seriously.

“The quiet will be met with quiet – commented an Israeli military source -. If Hamas moves to stop rocket fire in the south, Israel will not move towards escalating the situation. But at the same time, if necessary, Israel will know how to move”.

According to the same source, what is currently underway is a strategy of last warning to Hamas, aimed at avoiding further escalation. The infantry and artillery forces mobilized would be limited and for now strictly for defensive purposes. But Palestinian sources quoted by the media have signaled that even the Israeli navy which cruises off the coast of the Strip seems to be preparing.
