Irpef, record of refunds: 940 euros per taxpayer

Rich September for the Italian taxpayer. The personal income tax refunds foreseen by the tax authorities for medical expenses, mortgages, building renovations, life or accident insurance policies, which this year will reach the record figure of 20 billion euros, will arrive in pay slips or pension slips.

On average, reimbursements for deductible charges will reach 940 euros per taxpayer: a real pleasure, which is often equivalent to a month's pension or salary. Two thirds of the tax credits are due to taxpayer brackets with gross annual incomes between 12 and 50 euros, but it is obvious that the refunds rise for higher incomes and reach up to 15 euros for the lucky ones who declare annual incomes of over 300 thousand euros gross per year.

At the top of the regions with the highest tax refunds is Trentino Alto Adige: in Bolzano each taxpayer receives an average of 1.340 euros each in refunds. Sicily and Basilicata are in line with an average of 760 euros per capita in reimbursements.

However, it will not be a celebration for everyone: for 5,3 million taxpayers, no refunds will be triggered but on the contrary there will be new payments due to the tax authorities for 7 billion euros, which on average mean 1.370 euros of per capita expenditure.

In recent years there has been a notable increase in Irpef reimbursements but unfortunately also in payments, confirming the fact that the reduction of Irpef with the cut of the tax wedge is not only an argument for an electoral campaign but an obligatory step to support the growth, the first signs of which could be seen in the next budget law.
