Irisbus, an Italian buyer appears

A new subject appears interested in the purchase of the plant in the province of Avellino: it is an Italian entrepreneur, who would restart the site ensuring the full reabsorption of the 421 employees - Yesterday's meeting at the Mise with the company and the unions - The plan for a national pole with Breda Menarinibus.

Irisbus, an Italian buyer appears

An Italian buyer could arrive for the Iveco Irisbus plant in Valle Ufita, now stopped since the summer of 2011 due to the crisis. There would be an important offer on the table a local entrepreneur, currently anonymous, linked to strong international partnerships. The project would lead to the establishment of a national pole of the transport industry which would unite the company of the Fiat Industrial group with BredaMenarinibus, a subsidiary of the civil sector of Finmeccanica.

Therefore, the possibility that the Avellino plant will restart, alongside the production of buses with their revamping, is becoming more and more concrete, as well as the possibility of returning to work for the 421 Irisbus employees who have been going on for two years with social safety nets. The industrial plan, which should be presented in January, would envisage their complete reabsorption.

These are the main results of theyesterday's meeting at the Ministry of Economic Development with the company and trade unions, to inform the parties on the prospects for reindustrialisation. The meeting was also attended by Severino Nappi, labor councilor of the Campania region, who would be ready to give a 15 million order to the Irpinia site.

According to Mise undersecretary Claudio De Vincenti, "the involvement of Italian companies already present in the bus production sector and in close relationship with important international players could allow the new industrial project to deal with a market that will also be stimulated by the measures implemented field by the government in recent measures, starting with the Stability Law".

The passage of Irisbus into new Italian hands would certainly favor the single hub project with BredaMenarinibus, but the last word has not yet been said on the Irpinia plant, given the many offers and rumors of interest circulated up to now. Before the Italian track, the most concrete hypotheses were the Indian and the Chinese one, linked to multinational Xiamen Kinglong.
