Iren focus on the South for the photovoltaic. Through the subsidiary Iren Green Generation, the company has signed agreements to acquire the rights to some land in Southern Italy for two photovoltaic systems.

Iren Green Generation it is the new business area of ​​the group and on the new land it will install plants that will produce about 50 Gwh of energy per year. A note from the company, for reasons of confidentiality, does not disclose the whereabouts of the two new sites. The investment, however, strengthens the company's presence in the South and amounts to 6,1 million euros. A profitable investment which according to forecasts should generate an Ebitda of approximately 2,2 million euros per year.

The reasons for the expansion in PV are those that the government has repeatedly asked energy companies in line with the EU energy plan : investing as much as possible in renewables not only to mitigate the consequences of the war but also to build a new industrial model. “For us, increasing the production of renewable energy thanks to the installation of new plants is a strategic objective,” he explains Luca Dal Fabro, president of the company.

However, photovoltaics in the South are growing

About investments in the South, Iren is already present in Puglia, Sardinia and Campania. In the first two Regions it manages plants with solar panels, while in Campania it manages a thermoelectric plant.
