Iran: revolt against the high cost of living, wounded and dead

Protests against the measures taken by Hassan's government have broken out in Iran Rouhani, judged by the people incapable of solving the problems manifested by his controversial predecessor, the ultra-conservative Mahmud Ahmadinejad.

People have decided to take to the streets to demonstrate against the rampant unemployment, inflation, the market crisis and above all the high cost of living: just think that the prices of subsistence goods, such as eggs and chicken meat, have been raised several times in recent weeks.

However, it is not only the people who rise up. According to international analysts, even intellectuals and bourgeois, those who pushed Rohani towards victory in the elections have something to reproach the government for, which is not respecting the promises made on civil, political and human rights. Also, despite the agreement with Obama in 2015 on nuclear, in Iran we still do not see the benefits that should have come from the lifting of the heavy international sanctions.

The regime's response was harsh: hundreds of arrests, but according to US sources there are also six dead. Revolutionary Guard agents allegedly opened fire on the crowd in Doraud, in the central region of the country. To stem the protests, the Government has decided to block access to the internet. It is therefore impossible to use the social network Telegram and navigate to the site of amadnews, online anti-government information newspaper, accused by the government of encouraging armed uprising.

As has always happened in these cases since he was elected president, Donald intervened Trump, who through his beloved Twitter account declared: “The Iranian government should respect the rights of its people, including the right of expression. The world is watching you".

The spokesman for the Iranian foreign minister immediately replied: “Misleading statements, hypocritical and opportunistic. The Iranian people must not give credence to the criticisms voiced by Mr. Trump."

According to the Rohani government, the United States is the cause of the current crisis. The historically hostile attitude of the United States towards Iran and the persistence of some trade and economic sanctions wanted by Trump would have created the current situation.
