iPhone X flops and Apple thinks about the withdrawal

It is the most expensive iPhone in history, a unique product created to celebrate the iPhone's tenth anniversary. Exactly for this reason it is also very expensive: 1.189 euros for the 64 Gb version, 1.359 for the 256 Gb version.

With the iPhone X, however, Apple has perhaps taken the longest step of the leg. This is testified by the sales recorded since its debut which according to analysts would be significantly lower than the estimates made by Cupertino. Precisely for this reason, the company led by Tim Cook would be thinking of a sensational about-face. Based on what was declared by Ming-Chi Kuo, analyst at Kgi Securities and expert of the Californian giant, Apple is even considering withdrawing iPhone X from its catalog this fall, ceasing production over the course of the summer.

According to the analyst, the ten-year device, after the boom recorded on its debut, it did not get the reception hoped for especially in a market as big as China. At the basis of consumers' disinterest there would be the now famous "notch", that is to say the black insert in the upper part of the display where the phone's sensors find space. According to many users this feature would depend on one reduction of usable screen space. And in a period in which displays are getting bigger and bigger, the preference shifts to the iPhone 8 Plus which would boast a larger screen, but also a lower price.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo therefore, in parallel with the release of the new iPhones, Apple intends to remove the iPhone X from the catalog, instead of keeping it there at a "discounted price" as usually happens. In case the rumors turn out to be correct, it would be the first iPhone retired after just one generation since 2014, that is, since Apple removed the iPhone 5C from the catalog.
