IOR, new scandal: the deputy general manager fired

There is no peace for Vatican finances. A new scandal overwhelms the IOR (the Institute for the Works of Religion), which fired the Deputy Director General, Giulio Mattietti, who had been appointed by Pope Francis two years ago and who was in charge of Information Technology: worked in the Vatican for twenty years. He is accused of alleged "administrative violations" which, however, would not have criminal significance.

The new twist follows the dismissal of the auditor Libero Milone a few months ago for hypothetical private investigations into the dicasteries of the Holy See.

Mattietti, according to some reconstructions, would have been escorted by the Vatican gendarmerie beyond the famous Porta Sant'Anna but so far not much is known about the reasons for his dismissal.

What is certain is that the IOR remains an opaque world, despite the renewal efforts of Pope Francis, who probably pays for the conflict of interest between the Vatican Secretariat of State and the Secretariat for the Economy, still guided at a distance by that Cardinal Peli confined to Australia after pedophilia allegations.

But the twists and turns do not seem to be over: according to reliable rumors, the president of the IOR, Jea-Baptiste de Franssu, is now also in the balance.
