“Invito al Monte”: the appointment with art at Palazzo Salimbeni in Siena is back

From Saturday 30 November and for the next five months it will be possible to admire the extraordinary works housed in the historic headquarters of Banca MPS.

Mps, the oldest bank in Europe, the museum and the historical archive of its historic headquarters are once again open to the public with free guided tours, Salimbeni Palace. Interested parties will be able to participate in the event by choosing between five different times, in the morning from 10.30 and in the afternoon from 14.30. Visits are at limited number of and predict the reservation required directly online. From December, the dates and booking procedures for each month will then be communicated until April. Furthermore, the tour will be characterized by the encounter between music and art thanks to the final exhibition of the young talents of theSiena Jazz Academy.

Visitors will find themselves living a unique experience among the works of Pietro Lorenzetti, one of the masters of the Sienese school; the Baroque art of Bernardino Mei and the metaphysical painting of Giorgio de Chirico. There will also be other Sienese artists or artists linked to the city such as Giovanni Fattori, Ottone Rosai and Gino Severini. Among the foreign artists we find Henry Moore, of British origin, famous for his large-scale bronze works and marble sculptures.

Together with the precious works of art, enthusiasts will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the history of Siena through thehistorical archive, containing all the administrative and financial documentation, including the famous ones Bars of Biccherna, a series of wooden tablets used for binding the accounting registers of the Biccherna Office which administered Siena's income and expenses.

A unique opportunity to rediscover the neo-Gothic style architecture of the Castle Palace of the noble Salimbeni family, unified with the Tantucci Palace and Spannocchi Palace by the architect and designer Pierluigi Spadolini in 1970.
