Intesa SanPaolo Vita: great satisfaction from the first quarter of 2013

The Turin insurance giant is starting 2013 well, with performance in line with the extraordinary previous year. Operating income is down slightly, but so are costs, and net profitability remains stable at around 108 million euro.

Intesa Sanpaolo Vita confirms the solidity of the results achieved in 2012, a year of tumultuous growth, with a consolidated result which had increased by 268% compared to the previous year.
The data contained in the interim management report as at 31 March 2013, approved just now by the company's Board of Directors, in fact speak of a result from continuing operations before taxes of €154,7/mln (they were €161,4/mln as at 31 March 2012). , with operating costs decreasing and operating income holding, for a net income practically in line with that of the same period of 2012: 108,7 €/mln compared to 108,8 €/mln.

In more detail, net operating expenses fell to 16,9 €/mln (they were 20,5 €/mln in the first quarter of 2012), operating income stopped at 174,1 €/mln (slightly down from 183,5 €/mln in the same period of 2012), and the incidence of the former on the latter (as measured by the classic cost/income ratio) drops from 11,2% in 2012 to 9,7% in 2013.
Mathematical reserves amount to 56.207,1 million euro, a stable figure and consistent with the 56.232,5 million of the first quarter of 2012, and an increase of 0,62% compared to the 55.857,2 million of last December.

The Chief Executive Officer Gianemilio Osculati is satisfied with the first balance sheet for 2013: “The year has started very well. Sales have reached excellent levels, the products are highly appreciated by the market, the yields are high and the customer service is excellent. The economic result is the direct consequence of these positive aspects”.
Equally positive was the comment of the Chairman Salvatore Maccarone: "The guidelines that have made it possible to obtain these results are based on a strategy focused on maximum attention to capital solidity, performance, sustainable profitability and the creation of top quality products and services" .

In March 2013 Intesa Sanpaolo Vita assists 2.191.990 customers, for a total of 2.888.137 existing policies.
