Intesa Sanpaolo announced i Winners of second edition of the “In action Esg Climate” project, Call-for-Ideas promoted by the Life Companies of the Group's Insurance Division and in collaboration with the Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center. The project aims to support proposals capable of accelerating the ecological transition and create a greener and more sustainable world.
During the programme, concrete financial support was provided to the selected ideas, and the startup network of the Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center was made available to support the implementation of the projects.
The announcement of the winners took place during the event "Eco-sustainability: a global commitment for a better future" in Turin.
Double the number of applications compared to the 2022 edition
The initiative, aimed at Italian companies that offer innovative solutions for the green transformation, has received 139 proposals coming from the “Climate Tech”, “Manufacturing”, “Sustainable Lifestyle” and “Agrifood Tech” sectors. More than double the proposals compared to the first edition, launched in 2022, which had collected more than 80 proposals.
Thanks to the high participation and the quality of the projects, the examining committee decided to award a third prize ex aequo, thus increasing the total contribution of the prizes initially foreseen from 500.000 euros to a further 100.000 euros.
The winners of the 2022 edition of “In action Esg Climate”
Nicholas Fioravanti, chief executive officer of Intesa Sanpaolo Vita and head of the Insurance Division of Intesa Sanpaolo, ha awarded today four proposals which have stood out for their innovativeness and sustainability in the implementation of circular projects. The prizes awarded have a total value of 600 euros. This selection took place after three evaluation phases, during which the proposals that best reflected the sustainability and circularity criteria required by the initiative were identified.
Le four winning companies are:
- Isaac won the first prize of 250.000 euros for its design of an innovative technology capable of counteracting the seismic forces acting on buildings. This project has the potential to reduce costs and emissions related to reconstruction after an earthquake.
- NDG Natural Development Group won the second prize of 150.000 euros for the development of new formulations of a biocompatible inorganic vector which, associated with the use of essential oils, makes plants stronger and able to defend themselves against pathogenic attacks and climate change. This project has the potential to reduce CO2 emissions and increase agricultural productivity.
The third prize of 100.000 euros was awarded ex aequo to:
- The Okapi Network aims to increase the communication and B2B sales channel of its line of plastic-free products for household cleaning and cosmetics for the person. These products guarantee a limited transport of water and the use of concentrated formulations, to be diluted by the customer, with low environmental impact.
- Test 1 develops an absorbent system, using a sponge, unique in its kind, capable of cleaning up oceans and seas from accidental spills of hydrocarbons for about 25/30 times its own weight and with the possibility of reuse up to 200 times.
The winning companies will be monitored in the implementation of their projects and will have to submit a final report within 12 months to the working group of the Insurance Division and the Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center.

As with the last edition, numerous proposals were received, all of great value, which made it difficult to select the finalists, especially among the last six identified.
