Intesa Sanpaolo: partnership with the University of Oxford

The bank will support the historic British university in research activities in the field of management studies. Satisfied the CEO Carlo Messina: "we are proud to be a partner of such an important and recognized academic institution all over the world"

Carlo Messina, CEO of Intesa Sanpaolo and Professor Louise Richardson, Vice Chancellor of Oxford University, have announced the launch of the strategic partnership signed between the bank and the British university.

The agreement provides for the support by Intesa Sanpaolo of research activities in the sector of management studies, including the funding of a position as Research Fellow Intesa Sanpaolo at the Saïd Business School.

The first Intesa Sanpaolo Research Fellow is Rita Mota, who will work with Professor of Law and Finance Alan Morrison on ethics, tacit contracts and the relationship between finance, reputation and investment banking law. Rita Mota will work at the Oxford University Center for Corporate Reputation and contribute to the development of reputation case studies.

The agreement also provides for the creation of an Intesa Sanpaolo Lecture Threat at the Saïd Business School. Carlo Messina attended the official ceremony at the historic Convocation House of Oxford University, during which the Vice Rector Louise Richardson presented him with a parchment for his appointment as Visiting Fellow of the University.

Subsequently, the CEO of Intesa Sanpaolo went to the Saïd Business School where he was interviewed by Professor Alan Morrison and the Director of the Oxford University Center for Corporate Reputation, Rupert Younger, on the role of banks in modern economies, the European political situation, the global liquidity challenges and how major financial institutions can and should contribute to a social agenda in the countries in which they operate.

Louise ricbardson, Vice Rector of Oxford University commented: “I am delighted that Intesa Sanpaolo has agreed to support the research activities of the Saïd Business School at Oxford University. With its Center for Corporate Reputation, the Saïd Business School is a leader in the world and the funding of a dedicated researcher from Intesa Sanpaolo will help to further improve the level of the studies carried out".

Carlo Messina said: “Oxford is a world-class university and we are proud to be partners with such a leading and globally recognized academic institution. We both have a long history rooted in the communities we serve, and we are excited to begin working with the research team at the Saïd Business School to study how financial institutions can and should interact with the communities in which they operate."
