Intesa Sanpaolo, Messina: inevitable foreigners on the Board

"It will be inevitable that in all future mechanisms of bank management in which the majority of the capital is in the hands of international investors, there may also be a presence deriving from these subjects". So replied the managing director of Intesa Sanpaolo, Carlo Messina, to those who asked him if he envisaged the presence of foreign institutional investors on the Bank's board, since the institution has launched a governance review.

“It will also depend on the composition of the lists that will be made at the time of the renewal of the councils – he added – but there is no doubt that this will be an inevitable path. However, I am the managing director and I want to continue to do so. I'm the one who runs the bank, not the one who does the board."

Today in Piazza Affari, Intesa Sanpaolo shares gained more than four percentage points, to 2,266 euros.
