Intesa Sanpaolo: the Banca dei Territori has a makeover

The Banca dei Territori division of Intesa Sanpaolo is reorganized and further strengthened. The network led by Stefano Barrese starting from 12th April it will count on four new regional departments, also by virtue of the aggregation of the Ubi Banca branches. The new territorial structures will have the "purpose of supporting the real economy in a complex phase and of further enhancing the service offer in all areas of the country", explains the banking group in a note.

The regional departments therefore go from 8 to 12 and some existing departments are also reorganized, "in the common sign of strengthening the initiatives in favor of Intesa Sanpaolo's main assets: customers, territories and people". The four new regional directorates – Northern Lombardy; Southern Lombardy; Southern Piedmont and Liguria; Basilicata, Puglia and Molise – will be respectively located in Bergamo, Brescia, Cuneo and Bari, areas in which Intesa Sanpaolo's presence is particularly strengthened by virtue of the acquisition of UBI (especially in Lombardy).

The twelve regional departments will be led by eight managers from Intesa Sanpaolo and four from UBI, and two departments will be led by women: Cristina Balbo and Francesca Nieddu. The new configuration of the
network will see a total of over 5.000 branches and operating points throughout the national territory. In addition to the existing Impact department, the new Agribusiness department will be created, which will be based in Pavia, each with its own branch network.

“The planning vision of the Banca dei Territori – he commented Stefano Barrese, head of the Banca dei Territori Division of Intesa Sanpaolo – now draws a new and important impetus from listening to and serving all areas of the real economy, from businesses to households and local institutions. We are fulfilling the commitment made by our managing director Carlo Messina on the occasion of the launch of the takeover bid: the new regional departments will enhance the effectiveness of the service in compliance with the DNA of our bank, attentive to the specificities of the territories in a long-term time dimension . Our Group represents a wealth of skills and tools today even stronger and capable of grasping and supporting the economic recovery also thanks to this reorganisation, based on greater proximity and respect to each individual geographical area of our country".
