Intesa Sanpaolo finances petrochemical project in Mexico

The Italian institute took part in the Etileno XXI project for the construction of a petrochemical plant in Mexico that will produce one million tons of polyethylene – Intesa Sanpaolo participated directly in the financing for 100 million dollars.

Intesa Sanpaolo took part, as the only Italian bank involved, in the intended long-term financing operation to the realization of the Braskem Idesa SAPI project, Etileno XXI, the latter project aimed at the construction in Mexico of the most modern petrochemical plant in the Americas which will allow, when fully operational, the annual production of approximately one million tons of high and low density polyethylene.

Within the transaction, the Italian bank performed the role of Facility Agent and Mandated Lead Arranger for the export credit line of a total of 600 million dollars guaranteed by SACE and participated directly in the financing for 100 million dollars . The total financing, in which ten international banks participate, is 3,2 billion dollars. Twenty-five Italian companies are involved in the project, which will be involved in the construction of the plant.
