The union between Giovanni Bazoli and Intesa Sanpaolo will be completed shortly. 'My Milanese adventure is coming to an end', announced the chairman of the supervisory board of the Milanese bank during his speech presentation of the restoration of the Casa del Manzoni.
Bazoli did not want to give further explanations and to those who asked him what he meant, he replied 'I won't add anything else to this'. But at the basis of his words there is the entry into force of the new governance of Intesa Sanpaolo with the passage from the dual to the one-tier system of the Anglo-Saxon type.
The new governance structure will arrive in 2016 and will also be appointed in the spring of next year the new board of directors within which the supervisory board and the management board will be incorporated. Doubts about the role of Bazoli, 83 years old in December, in the new board of directors had been going on for months, but today the number one on the supervisory board seems to have dissolved all uncertainty.
